Citrus Production Practices

The cost of this programme is R2,500 (excluding VAT) per person.
Estimated completion period: 23-46 weeks

The Citrus Production Practices programme is aimed at those who need to develop a basic, detailed understanding of production practices and activities in citrus orchards.

The programme is delivered exclusively through the Citrus Academy e-learning platform.

The programme consists of short modules that can be synchronised with the citrus production calendar. Each module consists of content and assessment activities. Some activities require site visits to citrus farms and in some cases practical tasks. The learners will therefore need to have access to a working citrus farm.

The programme modules are similar to those of the Citrus Secondary programme, adapted for workplace learning, and are loosely based on the core unit standards and the old Plant Production NQF2 qualification.

The modules are:

Induction | Production overview | Enterprise planning | Marketing | Food safety | Harvesting | Plant structures | Plant manipulation | Plant nutrition | Repairs and maintenance | Irrigation | Water quality | Propagation | Pest management | Diseases and weeds | PPP applications | PPP safe handling | Crop establishment | Sustainable farming | Production management | HR management | Financial management | Agri tourism
